June 28: Minnesota Remembers Vietnam Event at AICHO

RSVP AT 218-733-7586. The St. Louis County Historical Society is inviting veterans, especially Vietnam veterans, to share in a meal and conversation. The Society received a grant through the Minnesota Humanities Center for focused programming on Vietnam veterans and those the war affected. The programming is centered on the PBS documentary “The Vietnam War” by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Join us on June 28 from 6 PM - 8 PM at AICHO, 202 West 2nd Street, Duluth, Minnesota. DSSO Independence Concert at the GND REC

There will be a free Independence Concert at the GND REC performance pavilion located at 801-101st Ave West, Duluth on Sunday, 1 July at 530 pm featuring the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble. DSSO musicians playing the trumpet, tuba, trombone, French horn and more will be playing America's favorite marches and patriotic music. Bring your lawn chair. Concessions will be available. St. Louis County Historical Society Call for Donations of Military Maps

June 21, 2018 10 AM to 3:30 PM The St. Louis County Historical Society’s Veterans Memorial Hall Program is asking veterans, their families, or members of the public to donate military maps for the Albert J. Amatuzio Research Center, located at the Depot. The VMH mission is to gather, preserve, interpret, and promote the rich and diverse human experiences of veterans, their families and communities, through museum, archival and educational programs. We welcome maps from all conflicts faced by military servicemen and women from St. Louis County and the Arrowhead Region to expand the research capacity, and to tie each map to the story of a local veteran. Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, announces its next event in the local history discussion series, “History in a Pint.” The presentation entitled “Finding Loren: Preserving the Legacy of 1st Lt. Loren E. Hintz,” will take place at Carmody Irish Pub and Brewing, and will begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 19th. The event is free and open to the public. This month’s story of 1st Lt. Loren E.
