Native American Heritage Day

The St. Louis County Historical Society is partnering with the 1854 Treaty Authority and the Historic Union Depot Corporation to bring Native American Heritage Day to the Depot.

November is nationally recognized as Native American Heritage Month, so in celebration of the area's rich Ojibwe cultural heritage, the Society and 1854 are offering activities for the whole family.

The Minnesota Indian Affairs Council is providing the exhibit Why Treaties Matter, the 1854 Treaty Authority is providing the event with children's activities such as loom beading and basket construction, and the Society, with help from its American Indian Advisory Committee, is offering speakers, fry bread, and has booked the Cedar Creek Drum Group out of Fond du Lac.
