History in a Half-Pint

Veterans Memorial Hall and St. Louis County Historical Society are sponsoring

History in a Half-Pint at the Depot’s Zelda Theatre on August 18th & 19th at 10am

Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, announces its next event in the local history discussion series, “History in a Half-Pint.” The presenter will be Abraham Lincoln and he will be speaking about “The Gettysburg Address.” It will take place in the Zelda Theatre in the Railway Museum at The Depot, and will begin at 10:00 am on both Saturday & Sunday August 18th and 19th. The event is free and open to the school aged children and their teacher, parent, or chaperone. Please RSVP by contacting Jay Hagen at or calling 218.733.7500.

History in a Half-Pint is a spin-off of the very popular History in a Pint Program sponsored by the Veterans Memorial Hall. We will have a Veteran’s story or historical presentation told over a half-pint of milk to school-aged children. This event is the story of the Gettysburg Address and its historical significance as told by Lincoln reenactor Fritz Klein. Klein’s portrayal of Lincoln brings this American icon to life. He bears a striking physical resemblance to Lincoln. He is featured in 2017: “To Bind up the Nation’s Wounds” – Lincoln’s views on building unity.

We advise guests to park in the Library/Depot upper parking lot off of Michigan Street. Michigan St. is currently two-way between 5th and 6th Avenues West.

Veterans Memorial Hall was established in 1910 and is a joint program of the St. Louis County Historical Society and the military service veterans of northeastern Minnesota with a mission to gather, preserve, interpret, and promote the rich and diverse human experiences of veterans, their families and communities, through museum, archival and educational programs. Its website,, features more than 6,000 veteran stories.
