CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

September 16, 2022, 4 PM - 9 PM

The St. Louis County Historical Society is hosting a free, come-as-you-are party to celebrate its first 100 years on Friday, September 16 from 4-9pm in the Historic Union Depot's Great Hall. Ken Buehler, beloved broadcaster and Director of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum will be the night's emcee. Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys are the featured entertainment performing everything from sultry standards to Motown. Steve Solkela, recently featured on WDSE's "Making It" series of local artists will also perform as his eclectic, "overpopulated" one man band. We'll have free appetizers, and there'll be a cash bar.

New displays drawing from the breadth of our collection will be displayed, and our galleries- including Veteran's Memorial Hall, the Immigrant Waiting Room, the J.C. Ryan Forest History Room, The Lake Superior Ojibwe Gallery, and Depot Square- will be open to tour. Plus- we've created a new publication featuring high resolution images of our holdings, items ranging from a delicate quillwork etui to a German officer's sword. This exhaustively researched book is free to new and continuing members.

Don't miss this grand (albeit entirely informal) gathering. It's a great opportunity to mingle among your fellow history enthusiasts- persons invested with an understanding of the past, and thereby more capable of projecting our shared future.

Many thanks to our premier sponsor, the National Bank of Commerce. Other funders include Johnson, Killen & Seiler Attorneys at Law, Fond-du-Luth Casino, Dale Carnegie Leadership Training, Jim Perrault Construction, the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation, Signature Wealth Management, The Depot Foundation, St. Louis County, CL Designs, CPL Imaging, the Kathryn A. Martin Library at UMD, Coombe Enterprises, and the North Star Group.

Register online.
