Position Title: Marketing and Education Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director
Part-Time: 30 hours per week Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $18.00
Provides assistance to the Executive Director in a wide range of educational and marketing areas, including varied and complex outreach duties, which fulfill the Society’s mission to inform and engage the public about the history of St. Louis County.
Primary job duties include creating original content/themes, graphic design, editorial work, and distribution for Rootprints, the Society’s monthly on-line newsletter publication and its twice annual print copy. Works as part of the Social Media Team to research and create unique content for the Society Facebook and Instagram pages including, but not limited to, finding stories and images within the Society’s collection that relate to local history. Assists in Society event coordination by working with other Society staff to generate digital marketing assets, post Facebook events, complete MailChimp correspondence, create press releases, post website blogs, and communicate with the Depot Marketing Team for building-wide distribution through their digital displays and social media channels. Coordinate Zoom meeting scheduling for Society committees. Coordinate and plan Antique Appraisal and other educational programs as guided by the Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position works to create a welcoming and productive environment, which requires extensive and effective communication skills. Position produces external and internal communications; some are independently generated and some are created collaboratively with the Executive Assistant and the Executive Director.
Collaborates with Executive Assistant and Executive Director to produce the Society’s Annual Report and other reports directed to the public.
Assists the Executive Director as requested with the preparation of certain marketing and education grant proposals, including editing.
Serves as content developer and editor of Rootprints, the Society’s newsletter publication. This involves overseeing its production, writing some articles, and assigning and securing the writing of other articles and smaller announcements. Works as the graphic designer, proofreader, and ensures timely production and distribution of electronic and print editions. Works closely with the Executive Director and Executive Assistant on content included for each issue, determined by the 15th of each month.
Promotes Society exhibits, events, publications, behind the scenes at the museum, book sales, limited-edition prints, and other publicity surrounding the Society and its Veterans Memorial Hall Program activities.
Responds to requests for assistance: phone, email, and walk-in members of the public and refers to further resources as needed.
Provides editing assistance to staff members, as needed, or as directed by the Executive Director.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Must possess the ability to competently and confidently edit and originate a wide variety of documents, artwork, and publications.
Demonstrable project management and organization skills.
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred in marketing, communications, education, or related field. Two years minimum relevant experience is required. Significant related experience can be substituted for a college degree at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Knowledge of current marketing tools and techniques.
Good interpersonal skills.
Basic math skills are essential.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Applications (primarily, InDesign) preferred. Working knowledge of online platforms such as; MailChimp, Canva, and Zoom preferred.
Experience developing publications, flyers, and newsletters.
Ability to prioritize and process multiple tasks widely varying in scope and content.
Must be detail-oriented.
